Join us at Little Buffalo State Park Festival! Camping optional

Come join us for the festival! Some of us will be camping that night also.

Update: It was brought to my attention that is the day of the Little Buffalo festival which involves music, art, and vendors

http://littlebuffalofestival.tumblr.com/

This would be very "easy" camping. We will not be backpacking. This site has established restrooms and a fire pit (possibly we can sneak in adult beverages). It will be a one night trip. If anyone is interested in just coming up and joining us on Saturday and not staying overnight, that would be fine too.

I might have extra gear if anyone is new to camping or doesn't have camping gear anymore.

It was a good time getting to know fellow outdoor/health-minded folks out there who appreciate art/music festivals. Jan, hopefully you were able to collapse your tent easily. Hope to see y'all soon.

If you know of any good art/music festivals in the area, please let us know. Too new to the area. Not always sure where to look ;)

I had a great time. Hope to see everyone at another meetup!

Although the rain was a bit of a damper (lol ), it was great to sit around the fire and sip icedtea and meet new friends!

Kim, I can not make it tonight. I was with old friends in a winery for our annual get-together then dinner at a friend's home nearby. I really like to come for camp fire - I have not done that for a long time. But I can not make it this time. Is the group going to the festival tomorrow? I would like to join in. But if the group is going to pack up and leave after breakfast then I'll stay in York. Please let me know if possible. I might try my luck and come tomorrow morning if I don't hear from you. Enjoy the camp fire. John

Looks like I may have to work. I will still come out but may not be able to camp. Will still help with the $

      Ok sounds good

      Are you still coming?

      October 5, 2013

So the rules state that vistors can only be at the camp site from 8am to 10pm. And no noise that keeps people up past 9pm (lame..kidding). So I guess we will talk quietly. Also, please be careful if you are bringing "certain liquids".

Could I just come for camp fire if I can make it? I will pay the full amount. Are there some ways I can find the group? Thank you. John

    October 4, 2013

    • Kim T.

Hi John. Yes you can. We are at sites 35 and 37 (next to each other). Although we will be at the festival or other places probably part of the day. I hear reception is spotty there.

      October 4, 2013

    • Kim T.

You don't have to pay if you aren't camping

So glad to see others join us! Now, if only I could find directions on how to set up my new tent!

    October 3, 2013

    • Kim T.

How big is it? Two people tents usually just require criss cross poles. I have a new one I got at garage sale I haven't opened so I'm bringing old one tol

We will be at sites 35 and 37 and will be getting to the festival around noon, if anyone wants to join us at some point

We are looking at a temp of 80 degrees sat as of now and a low of 60. That's summer camping weather :)

Hi: A friend of mine and I are volunteering for the art fest setup and will be setting up booths and equipment at Little Buffalo Friday. That being said, I reserved site 23 since we'll be camping two nights. I would like to meet up with whoever is attending the event Saturday for good food and company. We'll have plenty of firewood also. Looking forward to this coming weekend.

Hi Zack. I will send you an email with my phone number (is there reception there, do you know?). I have to look up our site numbers and I'll post that too. I think it's 35 and 37 (which our next to each other) but I'm not sure. I'll let you know tonight. I look forward to meeting you.

Unfortunately I have to work this weekend. My request for time off fell on deaf ears. I hope everyone has fun.

Come on people, join us! I turn 38 on September 29 and I'm itching to finally sleep out in October weather!

Great job Kim! Thanks for taking the lead. Will get money to you ASAP!

    September 19, 2013

Well we have hit a snag. The camping site only accomodates one tent or camper with up to 5 people. We would have to rent a site for each tent, which would be $40 a person. This makes no sense to me as I've never had this issue before. Sounds to me like they are catering to the traditional family unit...as usual. I've never camped in PA state parks, is this the usual deal?

Totally agree with not needing the ekecttic (lol). Cell phones can always be charged in a car if it's really even necessary. Your idea of 2 without electric is the best way to go. Nice idea! :-)

      September 18, 2013

    • Kim T.

I booked 2 non-electric sites. It was $50. The sites are more open and don't have as much tree cover only because the other ones looked kind of tight to fit two tents. They're next to each other. We can fit two 1-2 person tents on both sites.

      September 19, 2013

  • jan

We should be able to get them next to each other.

    September 18, 2013

  • jan

Hmmm...I know I stayed at a state park years ago with two tents. Don't know what the deal is. Now what?

    September 17, 2013

  • jan

Will we have enough room to set up 5 one person tents?

    September 16, 2013

    • Kim T.

I don't know. I'd have to look for more info or call the park. I assume so..

      September 16, 2013

    • Kim T.

I sent them an e-mail. I asked if they could fit 5 1-2 person size tents b/c I think mine is a 2 person (which barely fits one haha)

      September 16, 2013

  • jan

Kim. You should be able to cancel if need be. 2 sites next to each other for two nights is like. $80. You and I will definitely go, right?

    September 15, 2013

    • Kim T.

Yes as long as you are definite. There are only 5 people signed up right now. I was thinking of just getting one site. It wouldn't be a huge deal to reserve a 2nd site later (if there is one) even if we aren't next to each other. We can still "hang out" together. There is a $10 cancellation fee if you cancel within 7 days. Past that there is no refund. I will likely ask for a small deposit from everyone. So I just ask that everyone keeps their RSVP up-to-date.

    Hi:
Is anyone here doing the SATC hike and/or attending the Little Buffalo Festival this day?

    September 14, 2013

    • zack

I dont know much about the festival, myself. I know there's art and music events. It should be a beautiful fall day to check this out.

      September 15, 2013

    • Kim T.

I'll have to look into it and add information. Hope there will still be sites by the time I reserve one. Maybe I should do it it soon...

I am sorry that I forgot it is the same day when I am meeting my old friends. Thanks and ENJOY!.

    September 15, 2013

I forgot to mention that I also have a decent supply of adult beverage, red and white.

    September 15, 2013

Hopefully weather will corporate and autumn foliage is at peak - a lot to ask for but one can always dream :). Please let me know how to pay for my share of camping site and firewood costs. Thank you. Also, I have a good supply of salmon cakes which are good for grill, dinner and/or lunch. I'm looking for exchange of breakfast - scrambled eggs or omelet, and milk or orange juice. Thank you. John

Still thinking of where...Jan mentioned Little Buffalo. That is more "modern" camping and may be a little crowded but we are considering. Also, I like the Penns Creek idea b/c I've camped out that way before.

Penns Creek sounds like fun. Ohiopyle Pa is abut if a drive but well worth the trip, history, bike trails, hiking, kayaking

I am a member of the Union County Sportsman's club located at Weikert, Pa. It is about 50 miles north of Harrisburg. There is a mini golf course, driving range, rifle range, and fishing on Penns Creek. If you want to go swimming or canoeing in the creek, that is possible too.

Sounds like fun and that weekend is looking pretty good right now. I'll think about some possible places.
