Sorry I missed it. I was warding off a migraine and fell asleep. Next time.

This was a quick read for April...a filler book...about to post the poll for upcoming months....Any suggestions?

Sure. I'd suggested one or two in the Discussion Sxn a while back. But, to add to that: One Palestine Complete, by Tom Segev. It's a thorough treatise on the British "mandate" for the formation of an 'israeli state', the Balfour agreement, Chaim Weizmann, and the politics and players in the formation of Israel. Sheds thorough light on the how (and the who) the entire process came to be; quite an eye opener, and contrary to what most assumed: that the US played any central role. Fascinating stuff.

I would like to recommend "Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World" by Jack Weatherford. You hear the name and it represents a terrible, fearful, warrior. But, the reality is quite the opposite and he was often generous to the people he conquered, respectful to women, and anti-torture and slavery. The rules he lived by also included religious freedom and education - and that was in 12th century Mongolia!

Sorry I cannot make it tomorrow. I really enjoyed the book and had a lot I wanted to talk about but I have to go to a mandatory family dinner instead. I hope you all have a great discussion.

I must be a little stuu-naad, as we say in the old country. Did I miss the full poll when this was suggested? I checked the poll in the Discussion section...no description. Just curious. Thx!
