No one wants to go in early May. Meh.
Can you carry everything you are camping with on your bike for an overnight except food? What if we rode around the hill country for a good part of the day Saturday, had a good lunch and dinner at restaurants, camped out until Sunday morning, packed up and hit the rode home? Could you strap it all on your bike and make it stay on for two fun hill country rides?
Well, it worked once. Let's do it again!
We will eat out for lunch and dinner on Saturday, and Breakfast and snacks on Sunday. Also, bring a snack to share with 12 people for our cracker barrel on Saturday night.
We will swing by Garner before heading to Rocksprings to claim good sites, drop off some stuff, and set up the tents.
This time we will ride most of the Sisters, using the bread crumb technique we used successfully the last time. However, we will ride a new route to cut out the top Hwy 41 connecting, boring ride. Checking out Butler maps, 55 to Rocksprings is supposed to be a nice ride. Never been. Time to go.
Here is the new Sisters route: http://goo.gl/maps/dZVaQ
Like this even better, but would send us home later on Sunday: http://goo.gl/maps/g3Kpa
Garner Park has plenty of sites, and I will get enough to cover all of us (less sites than last time). Each site will hold three or four tents and only cost about $12-$15 each. All have access to water, bathroom and showers. I will buy enough sites for those signed up here on Monday, Monday May 19. If you are on here as going then, you owe me whether you go or not.
The ride will be long on Saturday with KSU at 9:00 a.m. We will only be out a 1/2 day on Sunday. On the way home we will swing by the Apple Store in Medina for ice cream and then the Beverage Barn in Bandera around lunch time to decompress by the river. From there we will take 16 home as riders pull off on the way.
In case you haven't ridden in groups before or in awhile, click here for a guide on how to ride in groups
*Summer Weather (sort of) - Bring a couple of water bottles for emergency stops.
*You pay your own gas, food, drinks, etc....
*Watch our meetup site or your email for changes to the ride.
*If you are operating a motorcycle, alcohol consumption is a bad idea. We eat lunch and have several breaks. Other types of beverages are highly recommended.
THE LEGAL STUFF - Please read the ACCIDENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT by clicking on the capital letters. Anyone who participates in a HCMR ride, including passengers, must agree to that waiver to to ride with us. HCMR members have already agreed to this waiver as a condition of HCMR membership and as a condition of their participation in group rides. Your passenger may not have. All passengers must also agree in writing to release, discharge, and hold harmless, HCMR and its Organizers, Wings, Sweeps, and Mid line Leaders from any and all claims and/or lawsuits for any type of damages arising from any HCMR activity. Now... go read the waiver by clicking on the capital letters in light blue type above.
