Hi Everyone,

The weather looks OK enough for this simple paddle and Pot Luck Event.

See all those interested at the site.

I see some rain over the week, 1,000 cfs is fine for all to go around the island --we all know 4,000 is impossible from last year's event  so something inbetween ??, i want some of you to gain some strength in the current so you will paddle stronger when out on the ocean or windy conditions..etc..

We are heading to the BOW & River.

These are Hot Hunks of meat i will invite for you Single Ladies to get married to and for the Metro Sexual Males.

Latest Weather View:

This event is Part Lake and part flat River conditions up to an optional one  fast water conditions location for those interested. 1,000 cfs is OK for most all to get around the island.

Flow data:,00060

Latest Weather View:

This location is a good place to get some flat water paddling done with a few interesting views on the way. (Some powerboats may be coming out now with the most interesting water skier so this will be the only time we will use this location for the year).

Once we reach the destination island, some can join me and go up and around which will present a bit of up current paddling practice and some can just enjoy the area until we return from around the back end.

Getting to the Boat Ramp site:

GPS approximate address: 100 Merriman Rd, Windsor CT

Other directions:

From Route 75, go west on Rainbow Road, left on Merriman Road. Launch is on the left apx 0.5 miles down.

Look for the Brown Boat Ramp Signs.

I will be wearing an orange hunting hat in the boat ramp area and will have the biggest award winning highway yellow color buck teeth.

Potluck Gathering will return to the old location of SPRING PARK PAVILLION.

(the other places just were not fitting enough for our kind of event.)

Bring something you really like to eat or can make well with enough to share.

Yeah for me it will be chocolate things this last time, chocolate melts too much in the summer..

Mmmm David Glass Tres Leches cakes would be good with pine appel on top...they wont melt unless in your mouth..

Grill & accessories ------ Loaded up already

Propane fire pit loaded for this location if needed to set the environment.

-- Pot Luck Event Location:

Take  a right out of the boat ramp road,

Right on Rambow Road

Follow to rte 75 take a left for 75 Nord

When passing the intersection of 140 slow down --- you will be taking the next right shortly,

Take a right onto Spring Street.. go apx 1/4 to 1/2 mile then look and take the right which is Spring Park access road (its right before the cemetery and almost directly across from Hathoway Road.

2 year ago people used their GPS's and everyone of em was way off so no GPS address this time, use the directions above.

The following Kayaks come with top rated paddles and life jackets transported to the put in site but must be specifically chosen and reserved in advance:

Boat use Doughnation is $20.00

Note: if you reserve a kayak and i take it all the way to the site and you do not show -- you will never join us again for any event.

These are my personal hobby boats and its asked you be sincere in showing up, besides i ask less than half of what a local shop charges and you get better equipment right at the event site's boat ramp.

Yes i will understand  traffic may cause you to be late and if i hear of of any traffic via my GPS or by other arriving members, then we usually wait a bit longer than normal.

Please make sure you fit in the boats and have some paddling skills (check the info of the boats in the corresponding links provided with each boat).

Beautiful day. From the boat launch to the dam, to the downstream side of the big island, and back to the boat launch was a seven mile paddle. Thanks Al.

But how do you measure the distance? Do you have a GPS that does it for you?

      May 18

    • BillyMac

Classic Goggle Maps (not the New Goggle Maps). Go to Map Labs, and enable the Distance Measurement Tool.

As always, this was a great event. Nice sunny paddle up to the big island, and a bit of headwinds coming back. Good exercise and fresh air. The pot luck was also excellent. Those chicken Shish kabobs are delicious. The salads and desserts were also first rate. Rugelach was a nice treat, and Al's chocolate balls are devine. Thanks to all for good company and good food, and to Al for all his efforts, planning, schlepping the luggage.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
