|A former member||
The Smart City Lab will bring together London based artists and creative businesses for a week long intensive lab exploring smart technologies and their creative application, and will take place 4-9 March 2013 in Lewisham, London.
The overall aim of the lab is to encourage peer to peer exchange, technical development and a broader understanding of emerging uses of smart technologies. This will include guest speakers, in-depth workshops and show and tell sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to present their current concerns and projects, while engaging with other arts and media professionals in developing new lines of thinking.
All participants will have production time during the lab to experiment with pilot projects in a supported environment. The Smart City Lab is suitable for artists, designers, technologists, business start-ups and everything in between. We imagine that the selected lab participants and facilitators will range across a diverse skill set, in order to catalyse knowledge exchange.
In terms of thematics, the lab will explore the ‘internet of things’, locative media and the city as an intelligent yet aberrant place. On a practical level this will include work with hardware and software sensors and exploration of data driven sensing networks.
This is a free opportunity.
