#HODR – The UX FACTOR Challenge

  • Mar 27, 2014 · 5:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

Designers: Stop Talking. Start Doing UX.

Designers from all walks are bombarded by the need to 'put the user at the center' of their design process. Visual designers in particular face this challenge every day. And, lots of us have changed our language to sound more user-centered. But the fact is, we have to walk the talk!

Vitamin T in conjunction with ADMCi is putting together a panel of expert designers to provide a hands-on experience that will give you the confidence you need in promoting and following a more user-centered approach. You will learn how they learned, what career shifts they made, who they look to today for leadership and MORE! After a vibrant discussion, we’ll break out into teams for a massive jam session to deconstruct existing work situations, roles within them, and strategies for evolving, learning, and influencing.

Broaden your career path and operate more confidently when designing within user-centered constraints, terminology and process.

The action will go down this time at Simple Truth, a leading design agency on 314 W Superior. Come visit with your favorite colleagues and meet some new ones as we kick off the HODR in grand style!

Due to space restrictions, registration with full name and printed ticket will be required.  Thank you.

A legendary creative team is the sum of its collective superpowers.  Which one are you?

The Dazzler: Mind Sway. Creates sites so captivating users won’t want to click anywhere else.

The Bard: Alchemy. Ability to spin mere nouns, verbs, and adjectives into interactive gold

The Federator: X-ray vision. Uses innate power to detect wily bugs and hidden coding traps.

The UX Factor: Shapeshifting. Ability to experience sites through the eyes of a myriad of different users.

Many thanks to Jim for moderating and organizing with ADMCi, and to the teams from Vitamin T and Simple Truth for hosting/sponsoring. I really enjoyed sharing some of my experiences in the field as well as the conversations in the breakouts and after.

Shameless plug: for any independent/freelance designers or other creatives, come visit me in the West Loop at Design Cloud! Our studio is open and available as a coworking space, specifically for the creative class.

And, if anybody has follow-up questions from the panel discussion or breakouts, I am happy to connect more. Thanks again!
