Not really, although I am an expert in making things work fast on traditional CPUs using SIMD vectorization and multicore processing (mainly OpenMP). Turns out that the issues encountered in HPC optimization are usually very similar to the ones I am dealing with frequently.
Nope. I've extensive experience using OpenGL shaders, in some sense the precursor to OpenCL/CUDA. While I am interested in GPGPU, I usually find that the kind of problems I need to address don't map very well on GPGPU - yet. I expect that to change within the next few years.
Via meetup - seeing which groups are close to Boulder.
Just moved to Boulder after 13 years in Minnesota and 38 years in the Netherlands. Have been active in Medical Imaging for about 25 years; see http://www.linked... for my professional profile.
