HPC & GPU Supercomputing Group of Seattle

The schedule will be as follows:

7:00-7:45 pm – Networking and refreshments

7:45-9:30 pm –Talks (and continued refreshments)

• C++ AMP: Bringing Massive Parallelism to C++ Developers by Yossi Levanoni (Microsoft)
• HPCC and Hadoop: Similarities and Differences by John Holt (LexisNexis)
• GPU Computing by Will Ramey (NVIDIA)

We are starting the talks on the late side because some people will be attending GPU computing-related BOF meetings or the AWS reception.

This schedule will allow you to do both. Just come over to the Amazon SLU after your BOF or the AWS reception. Be sure to RSVP.

It was a very friendly meeting.
    Good exposure of topics.
    Lack of time for debate.
    Good opportunity to do networking.
I was the lucky one to win not only the book for asking questions but also the Kindle in the draft.
    So it exceeded my expectations.
    Thanks.
Hopefully I will attend to the one in Austin as well.

Three great talks and lots of questions. Thanks for organizing this! Some good conversations afterwards too.

Just for Shep... This meetup was so good several of the more attractive attendees followed me back to my house where they wallpapered my front room with $100 bills. It was that good!

Great speakers. Lively crowd. And GPU books as prizes for the best questions of the meetup. All in all an interesting and fun meetup.

This was my first attendance of the group meeting. MS's talk on C++ Amp was the big draw for me. I'm familiar with CUDA and OpenCL (novice) but having tighter integration with C++ is intriguing. But in learning MS' desire to create a cross platform open standard while simultaneously tying it to DirectX/Compute doesn't compute. Questions from the group were awe-inspiring. Will Ramey's presentation on the future of GPU computing with the ensuing conversation regarding LLVM enabling CUDA accelerated domain specific languages was the highlight for me.

There is street parking, and there is no charge for parking after 6:00 PM. If there is no parking in front of 426 Terry Avenue North (the convention center building between Harrison and Republican), turn right on Republican and right on Boren and there may be spots there.

Missed bus will have to drive in. Is there parking near?

The AWS Reception is the same evening as our meeting :-)

Amazon is excited that SC11 is being held in Seattle this year. We invite you to stop by the Amazon Web Services booth #6202 to learn more about our HPC offering and talk to our HPC Solutions Architects. In addition, we would like to invite you to the AWS Reception at SC11, held at the Grand Hyatt, November 16, 5:30-7:30pm. This event is by invitation only and space is limited, so please register in advance:
