Susan T. and Susan and Michael D. will lead this almost 10 mile paddle launching from Pond Brook in Newtown up the Shepaug River to Roxbury Falls and then return. This is not a beginner paddle. Please only consider this paddle if you have done a 10 mile paddle previously. Expect some power boats on the water and we ask that we stay together as a group as we cross the Housatonic to get to the Shepaug. You must have your own kayak and PFD's are a must. Bring plenty of water, snacks and lunch for when for arrive at Roxbury Falls. Please make sure you when you unload your kayak at the launch site that you move your car promptly so as not to block anyone who might be launching a power boat. The pace of this paddle with be moderate. Meet at 9:30 am for a 10:00 am launch.

Thanks to Michael and Susan for subbing on this wonderful paddle today full of sunshine and fresh breezes. A little more effort than usual but it was well worth the effort. Knowing at the end of the day we completed a 10 mile "personal challange". Plus the excercise.

Yes, we braved the wind and paddled from Pond Brook boat launch all the way up the Shepaug River. Beautiful day, great paddle.

Hi again. Too windy for me today, but Michael and Susan will now lead this paddle so it's still on, just not far due to the windy conditions. Enjoy everyone.

I think you are right Susan...there just might be too much wind that would make the paddle too challenging...it's something to think about...

I agree Skip. So we will probably only do about 1/2, but again, I think we need to access the situation once we are out of the Pond Brooke Cove. We might all be going out for a nice brunch instead!

Hi everyone, I think we will need to access the amount of wind on the Shepaug today when we get there and then decide if 10 miles is sensible. We can always paddle to the boat launch in Bridgewater instead if we all decide it's too windy on the water for 10 miles.

Oh, I'd love to do this paddle, but it's Father's Day and I must visit my dad who is 92!! Very important that I spend that day with him. Hopefully I can do this paddle sometime this summer.
