It's been said that if you practice a new habit consistently for 40 days then change will occur (note: inner resistances will come up!) An additional 40 days and the old habit and the new habit will neutralize which is positive progress. An additional 40 days and the new habit becomes dominant and helps creates permanent change! I've successfully changed thought patterns and have also created several methods for breaking out of negative thought cycles. (and also teach these to clients since so many of us get stuck in them)
