Carbon Five LA bi-weekly, intimate hack night for developers who want to code and collaborate for a couple of hours after work. Bring your own project or work with someone else. Developers of all experience levels are welcome. There will be at least a couple Carbon Five folks around to help out.
We are also happy to have Andrew Cholakian, an engineer at Pose, speaking this evening:
An Introduction to Using Elasticsearch with Ruby Apps by Andrew Cholakian
ElasticSearch Crash Course: Search is a must-have for many modern applications. Integrating it, however, can be tricky. In this talk you'll be introduced to the basics of elasticsearch and information retrieval using the Stretcher rubygem. Additionally, integrating elasticsearch into a web framework in a reliable and performant manner will be discussed.
Andrew Cholakian works as a Systems Engineer at Pose, where he spearheaded ElasticSearch backend team. He's the author of a book on elasticsearch at http://exploringelasticsearch.com, and is the author of the Stretcher elasticsearch ruby gem. He also is a semi-regular blogger, and has been working at various LA Startups over the past 4 years.
Doors open around 6pm and we'll keep hacking until 9pm (sometimes later). Bring your laptop and a project to work on. We'll provide the infrastructure, food, and beverages.
If you're driving, here's some parking help.
