Are you passionate about learning? Taking an online or distance-learning course through Coursera, edX, FutureLearn, the OU etc? A home-educated teenager? A PhD student going mad in the office on your own? However you're taking control of your own education, you're invited to come and share your excitement about what you're learning, teach others your new knowledge and pool your resources. We can study together, debate topics, peer-review each other's work, or just socialise... whatever people want to do.
The name "Hack your Education" comes from a TedX talk by teenager Logan LaPlante, who talked about taking control of his education so that he can be healthy, happy and creative. Sounds good to me! You don't have to be a home-educated teenager to hack your education. Anyone can decide to learn something new, especially now that we have Coursera, edX, FutureLearn, the Open University, Khan Academy, and all kinds of other ways to learn independently and autonomously.
But independently and autonomously doesn't have to mean lonely. Bouncing ideas off other people and discussing what you've discovered is a great motivator! It doesn't matter whether you're working towards a qualification or just adding to your knowledge in your spare time; if you're learning and you love it then we want to meet you :)
Please note, if you do not RSVP to an event within the first two months of being a member, you will be removed from the group. It's fine if you RSVP no, we just need to know that you're really interested in being part of the group!
