Privacy to the People. Data, they say, is the new oil. It’s spurring innovation, creating new business models overnight, making people and companies rich and providing new ways for us to understand our increasingly complex world. It’s also quickly stripping away something most of us have always considered to be a basic societal right: privacy. If data is the new oil, unwanted tracking is the oil spill – and it needs to be contained. Join dozens of talented developers in a collaborative effort to develop groundbreaking tools to address one of the most pressing issues of our time: privacy in the digital age. At the end of the hackathon, our judges will choose three finalists who will then have a few weeks to refine their idea. The finalists will then be put to an online vote where one winning team will be selected. The winning team will have the chance to select two members to travel to South by Southwest in March of 2014 and showcase their product alongside the Ghostery team at the tradeshow, where thousands of technology buffs, professionals and media will see it.
