CodeCademy Group Learning

Learn Programming Fundamentals and Gain Valuable Skills with CodeCademy!

This round of classes, we'll be learning with Javascript, a language that is incredibly useful, yet also great for beginners.

Class will start with a review of concepts discussed in the first meet up and then will proceed with group study. This is a cooperative learning experience, where we'll work through things together. Mentors will be available to assist with any questions/concerns.

In the upcoming CodeCademy meetup, we'll be reviewing the basics from the first three sections: Conditionals, For Loops, and Functions. If you haven't finished the sections or if you've finished the entire thing, please still come! This is a class for all levels and we will work with you on an individual basis.

We'll also be discussing more about where the course will go and what goals we're aiming for by the end of our session.

Make sure to bring your laptop!

$5.00 requested donation per class.

This class looks interesting, but it conflicts with the DUG, which is of considerable interest to me. Regardless, I still have a general question for classes in the future. Since I don't know how far the curriculum has progressed, meaning I don't know if I would be a hopelessly novice drag, an ideal student giving and taking, or so sufficiently advanced that I should be instructing, can I audit one class to determine if there is any benefit to anybody from my attendance? Is there a normal policy for identifying compatible student/class levels? I ask, only because the "refund policy" link is non-informative.

Hey Chris, I don't think Drupal is meeting on Wednesday the 27th! (At least, it's not announced) And yes, you can audit to see if it's to your liking. The class starts assuming your knowledge of programming is non-existent. Codecademy's website can give you a good idea of what you'll be starting from. I'm planning on moving out of the realm of codecademy to eventually work on projects/more complex programs with the group (maybe the last three or four meetups). If you need to, you can come later in the course.

You're right. So, there is no conflict, which means, I'd like to come and audit this one to see if this is Papa Bear, Mamma Bear, or Baby Bear -- Too Hard, Too Easy, or Just Right. (-:

I'm all for the JavaScript and/or Python classes. I'm already familiar with the topic for this one but I still may go to meet others and discuss js.
