Make Video Games

• Beginner class is $25 please bring cash or paypal to [masked]

Most people say they want to make games but rarely do it. Why? Programming a game from scratch in code can be slow, tedious work and requires a lot of knowledge. Finding an experienced programmer to make your games for you is also time consuming and costly.

When you complete this class

• You will be armed with the ability to easily make your own games and prototype them in a weekend.

•  Your games will be playable on desktop, web, and mobile so you can share your creations quickly and easily! Don't just write your game ideas down, MAKE THEM REAL!

This class will use a tool built for rapidly making games without any having to type code or learn some complex system. I've used this to create game prototypes at multiple game jams, OFTEN IN JUST A FEW HOURS! The output will be HTML5 that is playable in modern browsers and mobile phones. You can text someone a link to your game and they can simply click to play it!

Requires a Windows PC running the free or better version of Construct 2.

About Your Teacher

Devin Becker is a long time amateur game designer an programmer. Having made and sold his first game in high school made in QBasic on DOS 3.0 he learned the magic of being able to make your game designs yourself as easily as possible. Seeing the web and mobile as the future platform to play games on he moved from professional web app development into a full time career as a professional game developer.

As a veteran of many game jams and co-organizer of the long running Sacramento Game Developers meetup he is an expert in going from idea to a playable game prototype at blazing speeds in a way that's fun, not work.

During his time at Apple Support he created and taught the training course for both the iLife and iWork suite of applications, even mid-release.

He co-hosts a very popular podcast on game design, Exploring Design on Game Developers Radio and runs an online game design school, Ludology U.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
