HackerNest DFW November Tech Social featuring Women in Technology

This month, we are featuring women in technology, both here and at Tech Socials across multiple HackerNest cities. What we'll do:

  • kung-fu-kick gender stereotypes in the face and push for a 50:50 male-female ratio at an open tech event!
  • encourage further inclusion of women in STEM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Math) industries.
  • help local groups and organizations get more face-time and funding to run community-building events.

We'd like partners and sponsors that encourage and support the proliferation and success of women in technology. Join us as a...

Collaborating Partner if you are an advocacy, support or interest group/organization that would like to co-produce this event with us and get funding to run even more community events.

Sponsor if you would like to endorse this special Tech Social to get high visibility and engagement with a passionate and enthusiastic tech crowd in a friendly, social environment that everybody loves.

Hit us up for details!

Rough lineup:

- 7:00pm: folks arrive, grab drinks, socialize
- 8:00pm: quick intro, thank sponsors, quick announcements
- 8:10pm: back to chatting with interesting people and new friends
- 10:30pm: go home exhausted from great conversations

HackerNest Tech Socials
are a fun, relaxed way to connect with your local tech brethren. Atmosphere: chill, friendly, unpretentious, agenda-free (no sales pitch, yo), and brimming with UltraSmart(TM) people.

Sponsors:

Sponsors make this growing movement possible, so we treasure and build deep, long-term relationships with the companies that endorse us. We're always looking for new friends!

Venue:

Wanna show off your office? We're always looking for big open spaces with 75+ (standing room) capacity that are easily accessible.

We love hardcore nerdcore.
Tech folks, tech events, tech love.

About Us:

HackerNest is a nonprofit community movement focused on building supportive Silicon Valley like tech communities in every city - strengthening local tech ecosystems globally through unpretentious social events and hackathons. We’re nurturing cohesive communities today to empower them with more relevant and accessible peer-based tech education tomorrow. How? We do this by cramming lots of smart, accomplished people into a room with free beer. Our relaxed, down-to-earth Tech Socials became Canada’s largest tech meetups in year 1 (now we're in multiple cities). Our membership - diverse and highly technical. Developers, designers, engineers, social media/business folk, entrepreneurs, investors, etc. gather regularly to socialize, talk tech, maybe hear a speaker, and meet future co-founders, employees, funders, and friends. Strict no-douchebag policy.

Devchamps coding school supports the cause, we need more women in tech. Great job Chelsea and Venkat on hosting this event. Chelsea il be hosting a design competition and I want you to be the leader in Designs by Women. Represent what's up Venkat, I know you wanna run the ping pong game back, but they don't call me the comeback king for no reason. We are hosting a entrepreneur ping pong competition at my office, you should come by and watch me win. Haha I wish, entrepreneurs are surprisingly talented.

In agreement with Michael. Awesome people. Don't hesitate to reach out to me either. One of the best meetups I've been to in a long time.

Sorry about the[masked]-day-late response -- we suggest $10, but it's ultimately up to you and entirely voluntary!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
