The Hacker News Seattle Meetup #11 is here... and it's going to be a very special event!
This is actually the 1-year anniversary of these events, and we've come a long way since cramming into the 2nd floor of Cafe Vita last August. A few months ago I announced Microsoft as our premier sponsor, who is helping us wage a War on Pizza and increase the general amount of awesomeness at these events. This month, they're even going to show us their new digs in South Lake Union!
The next Hacker News Meetup will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 6pm at the Microsoft Accelerator (link: MicrosoftAccelerator.com) on the 3rd floor of 320 Westlake Ave.*
This is where they just held their massively successful Kinect Accelerator program, and where the upcoming Azure Accelerator will be located. If you haven't heard of these, the Microsoft Accelerator is powered by TechStars and combines TechStars funding and mentorship with direct access to Microsoft engineering, business development and sales teams to help launch your business.
The speaker this month will be Brian Hall, General Manager of theproductsyoulovetohate at Microsoft. That’s right, he’s the guy responsible for the Internet Explorer and the (formerly-known-as Windows Live) Hotmail, SkyDrive and Messenger businesses. These products are actively used by over 550 million people around the world, so he can share a thing or two about what he’s learned over his 17+ years at Microsoft and in these online industries.
It's going to be an exciting event at a cool place with delicious food and cold beer... and maybe even a Hacker News Seattle Meetup birthday surprise?
See you soon!
*This is a secure building, so we need to submit a guest list to building management. I don't typically check the guestlist for these events, but you NEED to be RSVP'd this time. The guestlist will lock on Monday so we can submit it in time. Sorry for any inconvenience.
