I want to talk about what I call "conscious consulting". That is, consulting done in a way that it serves a greater purpose. For me, this takes the face of consulting combined with social justice/responsibility.
I believe that as a consultant, there is a way that I can go about my business so that I can both deliver business value to my clients while at the same time contributing back to the community. What would that look like? How? It can take the form of a path for bright, talented individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to enter the work force and earn a living. It might be a place where skilled and hard-working people in transition can get on track. What if we as consultats didn't always choose for trainees the most qualified, but instead the most eager and dedicated and disenfranchised?
People who are eager, dedicated, and are quick learners make great trainees, and I believe that they make great employees too. In bridging the gap between high-potential candidates and high-standards hiring, there can be good deeds accomplished while earning a profit.
What impact these ideas have on the landscapes of: consulting, business, and human resources? I believe that it could be huge. Regardless of that, the impact on the lives of those receiving this type of "apprenticeship" would be very beneficial. It's a win-win-win.
Join us for a night of exchanging ideas and feedback in the realm of conscious business ventures, and networking with like-minded individuals.
