Why are you interested in HacksHackers Brighton?

My job means I work closely with local government across the UK (and, to some extent, elsewhere) so learning more about open data use is important professionally to me. However, from a personal perspective, I'm keen to start to apply and explore open data about where I live (Brighton and Hove). I think that it's only by doing this that we'll be able to get access to more data and develop a better understanding of our city. I guess I hope I might meet some folk who have similar interests to me and might want to explore that data, too.

What is your email address?

I'm a former journalist, with a background in local press and magazines. Last year I was one of the first people to complete an MA in Online Journalism under Paul Bradshaw at BCU and did a fair bit of data-type journalism. I can't code for toffee!
