Reboot: Hacks/Hackers D.C.

Hi everyone,

It's been some time since our last big meetup, so we'd love to see y'all next week at Science Club to brainstorm and catch up.

Greg and I have reached out to a few other people to help us organize events, but the truth is we need everyone's help with planning. We know the need and desire within our community is there - now let's tap it!

That said, here's what we need from y'all:

  • Ideas for meetups. Maybe you have a subject you'd like to speak on or are curious about a technology or product.
  • Hosts to help gather speakers and promote the event.
  • Host space (this is a big one)
  • Sponsors! We'd like to be able to offer you guys snacks and such during our meetups, but without sponsors this isn't possible.

I'll bring along some markers and sketch pads. You bring your ideas. And thirst (it IS a bar, after all).

See you Tuesday!

- Anna & Greg

It was awesome to see this group started up again! I hope we'll do more this summer.

Something came up -- but please let me know if there's anything I can do to help post-event!

to Kate -re the 11 year old also check out Make Magazine & MakerFaire communities- I went to the NY one last fall and there were loads of kids tech activities! I know there are DC maker spaces for grownups and also robotic activities for kids.

Probably not. It's in a bar and we focus specifically on the crossroads between journalism and technology. I'd try the DC Kids Tech meetup: http://www.meetup.com/Kids-and-Technology/

Would this be appropriate for me and my 11 year old son? He's shown some interest in stuff like this, but there's nothing down by us :(

I'll post the results of the meetup here so we can all see what comes out of it. Pity you can't make it, Ben!

Wish I could go. I will be coming back from the MIT-Knight Conference in Boston that day. Can't wait to hear what comes out of the reboot, though!

Hey Y'all -- just want to tell you that AAN is moving upstairs, and we have a good-sized conference room that you are always welcome to use.

    Cheers, Tiffany
