Will there be an area for folks who won't be participating in the hackathon?

Hey all! So I'm going to be helping out with Open Data Hack Day this Saturday, so I'm rerouting Shut Up and Code to the Centre for Social Innovation to join in the fun this Saturday :) Cities around the world are participating and media will be in attendance. I've added the registration details to this meetup, so by all means add your name to the Eventbrite list!

(Google data-journalism contest will have to hold until next week, but I am super pumped to get on that ...)

Guys, change of plans: I'll join you! :D

Since it's going to be my first time a group such s this one, I'll join the activities that are already announced. So from what I saw so far, my top 3 priorities are:
    [1] the Google data-journalism contest
    [2] Open Data Hack Day
    [3] Everyday Scripting for Ruby

...will refine them on Saturday. :)

Guys, hope this will really become an every Saturday event!

This week, I'll go to Ottawa for the Open Data Day Hackfest:
Wish I knew in advance that you guys are also making it in Toronto.

Hope to meet you the next following Saturdays!

@Momo Your comment needs a "Like" button. Oh wait... I see it now. But that sounds stellar! I'm down :)

@Graham , I know, right? I'm actually thinking we should all convene around Duncan McRae's charity tax filing database and see what we can dig up, investigation & mashup-wise ... He's put an insane amount of work into cleaning it up and I always hear about how the charity sector in Canada is in dire need of a good audit ;) Did you ever read about this story from back in the day?

Yo Momo (that rhymes!), that Google contest you emailed about sounds sick! I'm definitely in... whatever that may or may not entail is irrelevant as it's gonna be awesome!

I'm going to work more on Learn Python the hard way, plus I'd like to spend a bit more time exploring other data projects to get a sense of the process, and talking with others about their projects. I'm still getting a sense of the range of options.
