HHLA at GOOD Magazine

  • Oct 6, 2010 · 7:00 PM
  • GOOD Magazine

Hacks/Hackers LA chapter is meeting up this upcoming Wednesday at GOOD Magazine to talk journalism and tech. This will be a casual, fun gathering. BYOB.

Feel free to invite other journalists, photographers, editors, entrepreneurs, hackers, designers... anyone who has something unique to contribute to the conversation. About Hacks/Hackers:

Technologists and journalists are coming together as reporting goes digital and Internet companies become media empires. Journalists sometimes call themselves “hacks,” a tongue-in-cheek term for someone who can churn out words in any situation. Hackers use the digital equivalent of duct tape to whip out code. Hacks/Hackers tries to bridge those two worlds. It’s for hackers exploring technologies to filter, visualize and distribute information, and for hacks who use technology to find and tell stories. Hacks/Hackers is a digital community of people who seek to inspire each other, share information (and code) and collaborate to invent the future of media and journalism.

This event is not just for journalists. We want anyone with good ideas to be a part of our HHLA community. Feel free to bring any guests with you. An important part of talking about news is having *consumers* of news involved in the conversation. If you throw a bunch of journalists in the same room, we'll end up circulating a lot of the same ideas and buzzwords around. General coders, tech enthusiasts and readers of news are welcome.
