Veteran tech conference organiser of the nineties and noughties. Now focusing on softwrare development and organising hackdays.
As the guy who taught the first online journalism programme in the counry, I felt at home amongst journalism-programmers. It's vital work, getting hacks to talk to hackers. The distinction isn't that distinctive anymore. Initiatives such as Hack/Hackers will help to obliterate it altogether. Way to go!

Hi milverton I'm really interested in software development and saw your message about their being one woman at your most recent hackathon. I've been to one hackathon here in London and there were a handful of women with virtually none on the software development side which is unfortunate. Please keep in touch and let me know when the next hackathon is because I would like to participate.
