Marc Ellison is currently juggling freelancing and a Masters of Journalism degree at Carleton University, Ottawa. He has a checkered education with a BA in History and an MSc in Computer Science. After 10 years in IT, Marc suffered something of a pre-midlife crisis. After a year spent living and working in Rwanda and Bosnia-Hercegovina, he decided to turn his hand to journalism. So far things Marc has covered a diverse range of topics: former child soldiers living in Canada; a mobile health system in Sri Lanka; the bedbug scourge in Ottawa; how the First Nations community is handling the issue of Fetal Alcoholic Spectrum Disorder; how cybercrime targeting women in Africa is on the rise and the controversy surrounding the defeat of the responsible mining bill (Bill C-300). Just come back from 3 months of reporting in northern Uganda and South Sudan and ready to get my hack on.
Both - 10 years of web development experience and now doing a Masters of Journalism at Carleton University.
Originally a web developer, and now a budding journalist, Hacks/Hackers is a perfect arena for me!
