Hacks/Hackers Rochester Message Board › NASA SpaceAppsChallengeROC Kick-off: Saturday April 20th @ 6pm after BarcampROC
The NASA SpaceAppsChallenge just became the largest hackathon on the planet! 82 cities on all 7 continents (yes, including Antarctica) will be participating in this global event. Attendees will be submitting solutions to challenges in five categories: Software, Open Hardware, Data Visualization, Citizen Science, and Creative. Local Rochester winners will be chosen in each category, and two projects from our event, and from each participating city, will be nominated to advance to the Global Finals to compete for the Top 5 world-wide! All solutions will be released under Free/Open Licenses. Local prizes will be awarded by O'Reilly Media, Github, Amazon Web Services, Leap Motion, and others! Food/Drink will be provided. Free admission. Open to the Public.
When: Kick-off Saturday, April 20th @ 6pm (Right after BarcampROC). Closing ceremony Sunday, April 21st @ 8pm.
Where: RIT Simone Center for Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Bldg 87-1600. Parking in 'S' Lot.
Who: This event is not just for hackers but also designers, artists, journalists, and scientists, astronomers, and any one else with interest participating in a social technology event.
Bring: Your laptop, desktop, or other devices or supplies you will need to develop solutions to the challenges listed above.
