Passing along a word from our sponsors – I know it’s short notice, but Cloudera is offering Hadoop training and certification in NYC August 10-12 and they’re offering NYC Hadoop members (and their friends) 10% off:
Discount code "nychug" @ http://www.eventbrite.com/event/1969830817
Also – starting to look at post-summer events for when everyone is done vacationing and others, we’re looking for speakers who would like to present:
o Topics: tools (e.g. pig, hive, others), techniques, approaches
o Case Studies: e.g. who we are, what we use, and what kind of problems we’re solving – works well for this, not been successful for this
Finally - I’m also looking to form a bit of a standing “Newbie track group” of people who would be willing to help a bit more regularly with introductory topics to help expose people to what they can use Hadoop for, and how to get started. If you’re interested, if you can email me directly ([address removed]) I’d like to start doing a bit more planning around what would be good to help people get started, and I’ll hook you into a planning thread – I’m hoping we can start in the next few weeks.
Please Note: If you hit "REPLY", your message will be sent to everyone on this mailing list ([address removed])
