We are seeking a senior level engineer (5+ years) who has a demonstrated track record of being able deliver quality results at a high level of productivity.  The ideal candidate will be innovative in presenting data to users for a complex system and have experience working on complex projects which span more than one major revisions. The Hadoop Developer is expected to own projects from inception through deployment. As a key member of the Technology group, the Hadoop Developer is expected to be comfortable both working independently and as part of a team. The ability to establish and maintain confidence with ownership of issues is critical. Experience with open source technologies and the ability to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies in a timely fashion is required. The Hadoop Developer must possess a performance-centric approach in development for this role in a high traffic, performance-sensitive system. We expect candidates to be familiar with and able to articulate industry best practices (e.g., peer code review, TDD, design patterns, etc.) and have awareness of, and some experience with, Agile methodologies. The ability to always be learning and share knowledge with peers in a fast-paced atmosphere is required to be successful in this dynamic role. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Hadoop and Map/Reduce development. 

Required Technical skills: The Hadoop Developer role requires in-depth experience with the following:

         Hadoop 18.3 or later



         High-volume log processing

         Server- side Java (5.0, 6 strongly preferred) including multi-threading, concurrency, etc.

         Application Server or Servlet containers, Tomcat 5.5 or later strongly preferred

         TDD, Unit, Integration and Functional acceptance testing.

         Working knowledge of browsers and web technologies

         IoC containers, Spring and Spring MVC strongly preferred

         ORM, Hibernate strongly preferred


         Java Profiler, JProfiler perferred

         SQL (MySQL 5.1 preferred)

         Continuous Integration (Hudson strongly preferred)

         Maven 2

         IDE, Eclipse strongly preferred



Optional Technical Skills: One or more of the following considered a PLUS:



         Other Hadoop technologies
