Drum Building Workshop

Still playing the pots and pans like they're a trap set?!? Retire that rig, because we're holding a drum-building workshop!

March 22-23, 2014 (two, roughly eight-hour days)

Prepare to spend a weekend with Olaf Gradin, resident renaissance man - percussionist and builder, as he guides you through the art and craft of building your own drum from raw materials; shell, ring & ropes, and hide.

Put the soul into your beats through an endeavor of blood, sweat, and tears with this fun and unique skill.

You will not regret this experience!

There are a limited number of spots available for this workshop, so save your seat and order soon!

Order at the link provided...refunds will be provided if the date is postponed.

(the order form still refers to our January date, but rest assured the date is up to date on the Meetup event)

Olaf, Fox & family: Great workshop. It will take me a couple of days to "recover", but the drums we made were awesome- each was unique. Look forward to our drums' debut at April's drum circle. Drum On!
(See separate e-mail re drum circle at Cresswind.)

A good time was had by all. Glad I signed up for it...we all made nice (and different) drums; good conversation and support from Olaf when necessary. Looking forward for my skin to dry so I can play my new djembe.

Glad to hear I didn't add any unnecessary conversation! It may be a first.

I look forward to it. I attempted to tighten the skin on my old djembe....it worked but isn't pretty. I would like to learn to do it properly. See you soon.

What is the cost of the workshop other than the cost of the drum supplies?

    February 19, 2014

    • Bill

I just saw the prices for the different drums. Just so I understand that is the price for materials and the class? ie$60 for a 12"frame drum. (Still waiting to "sync up")

    • Olaf

You got it, Bill. The workshop and supplies costs are one in the same. You pay for your drum (and put the work into putting it together), and I'll show you how.
