Whitneyville/Spring Glen Walk

Moderate pace walk along Whitney Avenue between Haverford Street and Putnam Avenue. Meet at Walgreen's (corner of Haverford and Whitney) at 6:00 p.m. Looks like there is ample parking in the lot and on the street. The walking stretch is about 1.2 miles in each direction, and the entire area has sidewalks, and the ground is level.

It was a very nice walk, I say. Despite the heat we made pretty good time, huh?

Very difficult for me to walk on hard surfaces, with bad knees and weakness from a stroke. It is a lovely section of Hamden. Enjoy!

I know the area and it's nice, but there is the Farmington Canal Trail nearby with no traffic.

Hi Desmond - I chose this location because it is easily accessible. Last time I was on Farmington Canal, I felt I was competing (at a disadvantage) with skateboarders and bicyclists...made me kind of jumpy. If you would like to host an event on the Farmington Canal, write me back with a date and time, I will put you on as event host. Really enjoyed the walk with you last week!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
