F-26: sunrise to Guy west bridge and back slowly!

FYI - the official address of this meeting location is in Rancho Cordova, South Bridge St, go to the end of street where the bathrooms are, across the trail from the boat launch.

Here are links to some maps of our ride. (The first one is to Watt. The second one is to the fish hatchery, which a few us of did afterwards.) the way, here is the GPS for the parking lot.

And a Google map link...

Ride SummaryTerrain: Paved multi-use path: fairly flat with some small rises.

Distance: 26 miles

Speed: 13 - 16 average

Rider Level: Not-so-casual casual riders

Sweep: No sweep

Gather at 9:00, rolling out at 9:15

High winds or temps in excess of 103 during our ride will cancel. Updates posted by 8pm Saturday.

Meet in the gravel parking lot near the ped/bike bridge that heads over the river where the bathrooms are. I'm going to be there at 8:30 am  to  go over my  bike, pump up tires etc. so show up early and we can go over your bike.

We will go from  Upper Sunrise Recreation Area to guy west bridge and back. Our average speed for the whole ride (excluding stops) is intended to be 13 -16mph, which means speeds on flat straight sections will probably be around 16-17mph at the most.

On the way out we will take a short rest (10min.)  at riverbend park just before the bridge on the right side of the trail  to eat our power bars , fill up water bottles and use the restrooms.

Please make sure your bike is in good working order, tires inflated and so on. Bring water, snacks, and you must wear a helmet.

We are not riding in any kind of paceline. And please remember that pedestrians and equestrians have the right of way on this multi-use trail and lets not forget the wildlife that's out there as well (turkeys, deer, and snakes).

You can pay to park for the day in the Sunrise Recreational area (or buy a yearly recreational pass - all monies go right to the park system!)

Street parking is available in Fair Oaks on the other side of the bridge and also on  south river  road(where they park for rafting) off of Sunrise Blvd. And another option is to park at the fish hatchery 1 mile up the trail for free.

Yearly parking passes are available at local REI stores and also directly from Sacramento County Parks:

FYI: if you earn less than 40k you can get a yearly pass for $10.00 for all county parks....I did!

Such a great ride this morning with a stellar group of riders! The weather was ideal; what a beautiful day! Wish me luck next weekend as I attempt my first ever 50 mile ride...

Carol you don't need any luck, all you need is a good nights' sleep. Have fun! :-)

FYI - If ya'll were considering 'extending' the ride to Discovery, there's some massive concert series all weekend and there's all sort so fencing and other potential obstructions on the path once you get to the part of the trail that borders the river side of the park.

So just a head's up, you might wish to make Del Paso or something a turn around.

I miss this ride. Its my favorite ride so far. Unfortunately, I wont be able to attend on the 15th because I play bass for Adventure church once a month, and this Sunday is my scheduled day. See ya all on the 22nd
