Meet in the gravel parking lot near the ped/bike bridge that heads over the river where the bathrooms are. I'm going to be there at 8:30 am to go over my bike, pump up tires etc. so show up early and we can go over your bike.
We will go from Upper Sunrise Recreation Area to guy west bridge and back. Our average speed for the whole ride (excluding stops) is intended to be 13 -16mph, which means speeds on flat straight sections will probably be around 16-17mph at the most.
On the way out we will take a short rest (10min.) at riverbend park just before the bridge on the right side of the trail to eat our power bars , fill up water bottles and use the restrooms.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order, tires inflated and so on. Bring water, snacks, and you must wear a helmet.
We are not riding in any kind of paceline. And please remember that pedestrians and equestrians have the right of way on this multi-use trail and lets not forget the wildlife that's out there as well (turkeys, deer, and snakes).
You can pay to park for the day in the Sunrise Recreational area (or buy a yearly recreational pass - all monies go right to the park system!)
Street parking is available in Fair Oaks on the other side of the bridge and also on south river road(where they park for rafting) off of Sunrise Blvd. And another option is to park at the fish hatchery 1 mile up the trail for free.
Yearly parking passes are available at local REI stores and also directly from Sacramento County Parks: http://www.msa2.saccounty.net/parks/Pages/Purchase.aspx
if you earn less than 40k you can get a yearly pass for $10.00 for all county parks
