Mountainbike Lake Natoma! D12

  • November 23, 2012 · 1:00 PM
  • Sutter St. Light Rail Station

Ride Summary
Terrain: Rolling hills with a couple of hard (but short) climbs.
Distance: 12 Miles
Speed: 8 - 14 mph
Rider Level: D12 (Intermediate) <--LOOK!
Sweep: Yes

Join us for the 12 mile dirt loop around Lake Natoma. This ride is intended for people who can sustain 10 MPH or more on dirt. We tend to go kinda' fast. It should take no more than 2 hours. If you cannot maintain this pace, you are not being fair to the rest of the riders.

We leave the Lightrail Station promptly at 1:10, so if you're late, you're going to miss us! If you're just a little late, we usually regroup at the Aquatic Center at 1:35.

As always, helmets are required.

This event starts at the light rail station in the hope that you'll save gas, money and the environment by taking the train. The train costs $2.50 (cheaper than you can drive) and schedules can be seen here... http://sacrt.com/schedules/current/routes/R507.htm Just make sure your train says "Folsom" on it.

An RSVP is a Social Commitment. Your Hosts and Organizers go to great lengths and often personal expense to make these events fun and enjoyable for you. If you are unable to show up, please update your RSVP a minimum of 2 hours before the start time of the event.

Contingency: After everyone makes it up the Bluffs, walk back down half way and spread out approx a bike length apart (I will direct you further with placement). I would like to get some "posed" shots as well. So for anyone who thinks they are not a strong bluff rider, you still have an opportunity to get in a few shots. We'll try to be quick about it, so we can all get movin again. Sound good? See you there.

Hi all, as of today, Friday is forecasting sunny skies! So here's the plan:

To all "Yes" RSVPs, I will be conducting a photo shoot on this ride. For those who are interested in participating, I need strong riders who are comfortable riding up the Bluffs, while I and couple of others take pictures of you doing so.

The intent is to get a good shot that will be later used as a landscape for a painting event. Hopefully sponsored by the Painted Cork on Sutter St. More details about that after the Holidays.

Me: I will do my best to coordinate this effort in the most efficient way possible, so as not to delay the ride, but please bear with me.

Riders: I need a volunteer to be my ride leader (Blaine?). Bluff riders should be lined up in advance based on skill level and/or jersey color. Please wear the most colorful jersey or shirt you have that would "pop" against a grassy hillside. Ex: Red, Yellow, Orange, Bright greens, Bright Blues, Pinks. etc. White ok, but no Black please.

Vida, if the speedy folks can give me a lead (a big one), I'll get myself and my bike up the bluffs, and get shots from the top :)

So far, my camera peeps are me, my friend Bobby Tran & Mitzi.

Photographers: Tentative camera locations will be Middle of Hazel Bridge, Near Top of Bridge, and at trail Head. If I can get a 4th person to get some shots shooting down from the top, that would be cool too (Anyone?). We can meet at the Aquatic Center parking lot at about 1:15 ish and walk over. I'll bring motorolas, so we can stay in touch, if needed.

Hey I know this is Black Friday and all, but depending on turnout and if we stay in town, I would like to take some pics of about 6 to 12 mountain bikers pedaling up the Bluffs. If it doesn't work out, I'll wait for another sunny Fri when I have the time off.
