This series of Sunday long runs is designed to help you prepare for the Rock & Roll Half Marathon (although anyone is welcome to come out and run). We run a 10 - 11 minute mile pace. I will have my phone with me until 6:20 am ([masked]). We don't wait for maybes.
This week we will meet at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Museum on General Booth Blvd. Park in the Main parking lot with the seal tank out front.
We will run towards the Oceanfront (including over the bridge!), from 5th street we will go over to the boardwalk, run the boardwalk, cross over to Atlantic, run to the 64th Street entrance of First Landing State Park (about 5.3 miles at this point, so a good spot to turn around if you are only going to run 10), turn right on to the Cape Henry Trail for about 1.2 miles and then turn back. Since we are not going to the visitor's center, the water fountain and porta-potty on 64th will be our only relief stop. This course has us running a big chunk of the R&R HM - just getting in practice for the bridge will be a huge help.
If you are not already signed up for the Rock & Roll Half Marathon (Virginia Beach, Labor Day Weekend) please remember to sign up for the Get Fit Challenge as part of the Hampton Roads Runners' team. You will get a $10 discount.
Hope you can join us!
