25th Annual YMCA Independence Day 5K at Mt Trashmore YMCA

Kick off Independence Day with a 5K at the Mt Trashmore Family YMCA! If you've been living and running in Virginia Beach for awhile you know this has become a big summer running event. This year is the 25th consecutive running, get a jump on Independence Day by running this fun 5K!

The 5K begins and ends at the Mt Trashmore Family YMCA on South Blvd and is run on the lake & hill paths at Mt Trashmore Park. In addition to the 5K run/walk, there is a 1-mile run and a 1/4 mile tot trot. Bring out your family and non-running friends for this one, there's something for everyone.

Registration fees are $25 through June 25th; then $30 through July 3rd; and $35 race day.

Packet pickup for pre-registered runners will be Friday, July 3rd from 12-9 PM at Mt Trashmore YMCA. Register early to guarantee yourself a T-shirt!

6:30am Race Day Reg Opens
7:15am Race Day Reg Closes
7:30am 5K Run/Walk
8:45am 1-Mile Run
9:30am 1/4 Mile Tot Trot
10am Awards

Awards are three deep overall and in all age group categories.

You may register via Active.com or print & mail-in a registration. For a paper application, see the files tab on this website for one in pdf format.

There will be a lot of runners there that morning but we can try to meet-up at 7:00 - 7:15 in the YMCA parking lot at the stop sign. When facing the YMCA the stop sign is at the left end of the parking area. Hope to see lots of HRRs there!

The main YMCA parking lot will be closed to parking but there is parking adjacent to the Y in the lot at Edwin Dr & South Blvd and in the Mt Trashmore lots.
