Christine, if you would be willing to give me a few private lessons, please let me know. My email is [masked]. If not, perhaps you can recommend someone. Thank you. Regards, Terri

Would love to do some private lessons. We'd have to figure out where--I'll have a great house for drumming soon, hopefully by December, but currently I'm in an apartment. How about you? Let's take this discussion off to our private emails--use the meetup to send me your email address--Thanks, C.

We've received an inquiry about doing a gig, possibly every 2 months or on a one-time basis, doing a drum circle "performance" and then participation for children at the Deptford Library. I think we'd want to rehearse once or twice to prepare--if several of you want to commit to this. I've done many of these gigs (and bigger!) in Seattle and they are fun. Public libraries have budget for these community-oriented events so I'm guessing this would not be completely a volunteer event. Let's discuss or get back to me with your r.s.v.p. Any questions? Ask away. : )

I would love to do this! It would be so cool to play for the kids and then get them involved, banging away on the drums. Would we sort of have a pattern/ "set list" in mind or just jam? I'm up for either!

We would have some structure pre-planned, something like a performance piece with plenty of room for improv and with some leadership from me in the moment. Then we would have involvement from the kids and we'd do a jam with them while holding a strong pulse for them. Yeah, it would be really fun and awesome to role-model for little girls all sorts of expanded opportunities for women expressing themselves musically and rhythmically.

Hi Christine and friends! I hooked up on Facebook with Mark Jacopec, the drummer who has the annual drumming bonanza in West Cape May. He told me that he recommends a company in Tennessee to anyone interested in purchasing drums. Their website is www.goatskins.com. Regards, and I look forward to seeing all of you in December!

Hi Terri--Thanks for following up. goatskins.com which you mention in your post below, is the drum biz of the guy "Shorty" whom I talked about in class this month. Shorty is reliable, honest, prices are reasonable. He's been in the drum business and had an excellent reputation for many years. If it would be helpful, we can talk in class about the different qualities of sounds of djembes so you can tell Shorty what kind of drum voice you want. Be sure to put the First Weekend in June down in your calendars as the Drum Bash at Barkman's in West Cape May next year!
