Session V: Hive UDAF and Partition

Hi All,

I finally found time to schedule the meetup. Let's meet next week. I am planning this to be the last session on hive. In this session we will look how to write UDAF. Another very important concept that I haven't covered in hive is Partitioning. We look at these two things.

    You can add the jar to jdo jar to maven pom file please use the following block and replace the path to your jar.
    <dependency>
    <groupId>javax.jdo</groupId>
    <artifactId>jdo2-api</artifactId>
    <version>2.3-ec</version>
    <scope>system</scope>
    <systemPath><Complete path to the jar>/jdo2-api-2.3-ec.jar</systemPath>
    </dependency>

    Hi all For tomorrow's meeting, please think about how would you write a query to determine the "mode" age for each gender group in the movielens dataset. There is no easy to write this query in hive but we can easily write a UDF or UDAF to accomplish the above task. We will go through both the approaches in tomorrow's meetup.

      Hi Luke, This is great. Did you hadoop to parse and process all the documents and determine relevant ones ?

      I didn't need the heavy hadoop hammer for this site :)
