Learn CSS From Scratch

This is not a class but a learning/working group.

In order for you to come in with some basic understanding of CSS, watch this video:
http://css-tricks.com/video-screencasts/58-html-css-the-very-basics/

We'll follow the book "CSS The Missing Manual" and for this first meetup read the first three chapters and complete the tutorials.

To get started on the tutorials, you can download Aptana for free here: http://aptana.com/

I actually did the tutorials for chapter 2 and 3 before the meetup. I did the tutorials for chapter 4 and 5 during the meetup. I had done a little bit with the css before. Preparing for this meeting made me understand what I had doing before and doing the tutorials have given me the knowledge to change the look of my web pages instead of just guessing as a I was doing before.

I am learning Ruby on Rails using haml so there is another level of complexity on understanding how to change the haml which then generates the html which will then work with the CSS.

excellent, couple people really want to learn who have fantastic personalities, very helpful, volunteers go around class asking if others need help. Very good people who stayed to the end. there is enough critical mass to do more complicated topics and to introduce more complicated material like javascript and server side programming

This was my first meetup. Though I didn't go prepared to do the tutorial, it was organized good.
