Do you find yourself drooling over topo maps, always planning your next obscure adventure? Do you crave being in the wilderness more than a bowl of ice cream? Have you been accused by hikers and non-hikers alike of being "hardcore"? Then this may be the group for you! Hardcore or not, you love to hike and want to meet others who share your passion. If you're looking for something other than the usual urban dumpster dives, this may be your fit. You are dedicated to exploration, and don't make silly excuses to stay on the couch. This group is for individuals who don't race up and down Cowles Mtn. but instead take their time and really enjoy the wildness of wilderness.
Most hikes are full day events w/dinner afterward, with the exception of after-work hikes which are normally just an hour or 2 but also usually involve dinner/drinks afterward. Please note that many of the hikes will involve off-trail, cross-country travel. Hikes will be done at a slower than average pace.
Speed racers, flakes, & no-shows need not apply. This group has a Zero Tolerance Policy on no-shows, which means that if you RSVP 'Yes' on any event, then fail to show up without first changing your RSVP or otherwise contacting me (E-mail, call, text) then you will be booted from the group. I put a lot of time & effort into doing research & preparation for the trips & have no desire to deal w/disrespectful, lame ass flakes.
**Please note that this is a group of active members, not apathetic, which means if you join & then just settle into being a creepy lurker for months on end, you will be removed from the group. (FYI, Meetup considers anyone who has not visited the website in 3 months or more to be "inactive" & this info is displayed to the Organizer. So this means that after 3 months of lurking you are at risk for being removed from the group.)
Please DO NOT bring your children. They are too much of a liability & I don't like them anyway. This group is for adults only. ;-)
New members must be approved by the Organizer
