Please join us for our inaugural event! Hardwired NYC focuses on startups, products and technologies at the intersection of the physical and digital worlds.

Our speakers:

* Amanda Peyton, CEO, Grand St. Grand St. is a new market and community for creative electronics. The way that consumer electronics are made, bought and sold is changing fundamentally, and Grand St. is a new kind of store for this new era in electronics. Grand St. is backed by First Round Capital, Betaworks, David Tisch and several other prominent investors.

* Andrew Brooks, COO, SmartThings. SmartThings is changing the face of home automation, making it easy to connect the things in the physical world to the Internet. The cloud-based software platform allows users to install apps into their lives that make the world smarter, more reactive and more enjoyable. SmartThings is building an open platform and embracing the developer and maker communities in a way that will significantly expand the range of applications and devices that will become smart.

* Matt Powell, CIO Spies & Assassins (and kbs+). Spies & Assassins, part of the MDC Partners network, is a creative-technology boutique with a focus on cutting edge digital & technology product development.

* Davide Rossi and Michael Chiang, co-founders, FitBark.  FitBark is wearable technology for your dog that fosters an active lifestyle and guides you through the amazing journey of pet parenting. The FitBark mobile app, coming in Spring 2013, tracks your dog’s fitness level and features BarkScore, a proprietary measure that quantifies your dog’s progress. By joining our growing community, you will support the development of a next-generation pet care analytics platform that will provide new insights into the health and happiness of dogs worldwide.

Great first event, well done with the organization and selection of showcases. These are the type of events that get the wheels going or tipping point of idea for others. SmartThings really put a few things into perspective for me and shed light on an idea inspired by my newborn (which my find a place at Amanda's edgy site, https://grandst.com, that stirs a microeconomy connecting sellers and buyers on innovative niche products). Seeing what kbs+ pulled off helps drive the push and further inspires my stealth startup KonnectMe2. And finally I can't wait to try the FitBark for my three - 4 legged kids! All in all a fun event and informative. Thanks.

Loved it. Great presenters (some pretty innovative stuff!). Would love to hear more about the biz Dev and marketing challenges of these types of companies. Also, would be great if a VC could present to give us how and where investors are funding tech hardware startups! And lastly, since this is a hardware meetup, in addition to the presentations, perhaps guest speakers can set up live demos for us to touch and experience for ourselves .

I thought the meetup was very inspiring. Just a few weeks ago I was reading about "Dog Data" and here was FitBark right in the audience. I was reading a paper by GigaOM just earlier today and the Internet of Things was one of the presentations, along with practical examples.
