Sundae Sermon - Summer Park Jam @ St. Nicholas Park, Afterparty @ Shrine!

  • to
  • This location is shown only to members

  • Harlem enjoys a rich history of music, culture and community that connects all people from all corners of the globe. Sundae Sermon seeks to continue this tradition with a simple and soulful day of dancing under the Uptown sun.

Sundae Sermon is an afternoon in the park of music, dancing, family and community commerce.

The foundation of the sound of Sundae Sermon is positive house music and peaceful tribal vibes. The spirit of house music comes from the church; so it's only befitting house music should be the cornerstone of this public dance-party. New and old house, blended with classic R&B (Barry White, Stevie Wonder), Disco (Thelma Houston), Funk (Parliament), Soul (James Brown, TSOP), Afro-Beat (Fela) and Salsa/Boogaloo (Oscar De Leon). All musical genres that cross generations and borders. This is music that makes people feel good! Beautiful Morningside Park is the perfect location for a diverse audience of all ages and cultures to enjoy a fun afternoon of music and relaxation. To learn more, please visit www.sundaesermon.com for more info!

Where to find us in the park:
This has yet to be determined, but likely on the hill (in the shade) that you see in the videos above. More information will be posted closer to the date.

Directions to St. Nicholas Park (the main entrance):
Train: The C or B local trains to 135th Street and St Nicholas Avenue. That's it - the main entrance and the setup will be right there near the park entrance.
Bus: Take the #M3 bus to 135th Street & St. Nicholas Ave, or take the #M10 to 135th Street and Frederick Douglass Avenue (8th Ave) and walk one avenue west (toward the park) to St. Nicholas Avenue.

    Hi everyone,

Yes, the Sundae Sermon event this Sunday is not taking place, however I'm not canceling the event yet. I hoping to get a rescheduled date, so that I can simply change the date instead of recreating the event.

The page will be updated by Saturday, 8/3, 12pm, and everyone notified.

Sundae Sermon is cancelled - but Soul Summit in Brooklyn is still on! Perhaps Daniel can update this event and re-post to reflect the new info. 8/4, 3 - 8pm at Bed Stuy Restoration Plaza.
