March book give-away!

Our March book giveaway is the best-selling Creative Portraits: Digital Photography Tips & Techniques.

This book has a $29.95 retail value.

Here's how to enter the give-away:

There are two things you need to do to be eligible for a chance to win the book:

1) RSVP "Yes" to this meetup

2 Post an image that is a portrait to the 2013 Portraits from Meetup Members photo album for this group. You can access the photo album by clicking this link or by clicking the Photos tab at the top of this Meetup webpage.

Additional instructions:

  1. Please caption your image as Harold does, with the image name, copyright symbol, followed by your name. For example: Wheels within Wheels © Harold Davis. On Windoze you get the copyright symbol by holding down Alt + Numlock and entering 0169 on the numeric keypad. On the Mac, the copyright symbol is Alt + G on the keyboard. It's good form to put a copyright notice on any image of yours that is published, inclusion in a photo album on Meetup is a form of publication, and we want to be sure to teach proper professional practice as part of our mission in this group. The caption field appears above the image after it has been uploaded.
  2. Please add a comment explaining a little about the background of your image, and what you'd most like to get out of the critique.
  3. Thanks! Enjoy the process.

On March 17, we will put your names in agreen shamrock hat and let Katie Rose pick out two names...the lucky folks get a free book!

If you are the lucky winner, we will email you and tell you! To receive a book you must have a United States mailing address.

Thanks, Phyllis for answering my question.

Hi Dinyar--the Meetup file size specs are: photos must be in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format, be less than 10MB in size. When you put photos up on the web, the smaller they are, the quicker they load. You don't want to impact the way a photo looks (by trimming the file size down too far), but large image sizes don't make a difference on the web. Monitors are only 72ppi or 96ppi at most. Thanks!

Hi Theresa, This isn't a meetup in a physical location. This is just a book give-away! Make sure you put up a photo at the portrait album listed above to be entered!

I am just beginning to work with portraits and will be learning from the ground up. I traveled to Peru last year (2012) and was really taken with the people and the amazing character in their faces. Would love to learn to develop the images fully.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
