This was a really great work out hike. We did approx. 11.5 miles in less than 4 hours including a lunch break by the lake. We averaged a 3.7 MPH pace and completed +1600 ft of elevation gains! This was a great group of hikers...including another appearance by some of the Hammers! A very special thanks to Al for co-leading and showing me a great trail route. Thanks to Steve and Al for getting together at Rockwell's for a bite to eat and drink afterward! Thanks to everyone who made it out today!

Sounds great! If V.Forge isn't open by this coming Sunday, would this be a likely location for that hike as well?

It was a beautiful trail, nice overcast weather for hiking, fairly fast paced and good company. I loved it.

I will have with me a four-legged Hammer.

I will be there. If you're doing the hike I think you're planning, people will not be able to shorten the hike as they can in VF. 9:30 start time.

      Hi Steve, See you there.

Sadly, this takes me out of the mix.

Hi Rich, I understand. Just felt it was necessary this week. Catch you another time.

hi Paul! Was wondering if you will have a drop off place for folks who may want/need to leave earlier than 4 hours into the hike? Will we pass near the parking lot at some point mid-hike? If so, I'd love to join!

    • Paul

Hi Stella, Unfortunately, this hike will not offer that possibility so easily.

Hi All, Please pardon me for the late waffling and change of decision about this hike, however...after conferring with trusted and well-respected fellow hike leaders today...I've decided to move this hike over to Green Lane for this Sunday. Change of details coming shortly. This decision is being made with the best interests of all of you in mind! I sincerely hope this doesn't mess up anybody's Sunday plans too much...and I hope you can still join me. Thanks!

So will you be doing a hike at Green Lane afterall? I've done 14-15 miles there last year. You can definitely have a good workout there, as long as you've a good pace like the VF hikes you do.

It's not looking good for this hike. We need a Hail Mary Pass from Government this week! :(

Man barricades.....storm ramparts,or something like that

      October 3, 2013

    • Carole

Do they really have barricades? I know the bathrooms are locked.

Well Folks, following the success of last night's PM Valley Forge Hike from an alternate starting point...I am now hopeful and optimistic that I can plan out a worthy 12-15 mile Workout Hike for Sunday. Otherwise, I may construct a nice hike at Green Lane. Stay tuned.

    • Rich P.

So we are going to have the hike after all?

      October 3, 2013

    • Paul

Rich, I am hopeful...I will make final call by Friday afternoon.

I've decided to go on a long ride out to Ohio this weekend. I'll see you all next time!

Sorry Paul. I didn't want to chance missing another day. Hope they resolve the Park closing.

    October 2, 2013

  • Angela

*pout* have to miss another one...have a book club meetup on the same day!

    September 24, 2013

    • Paul

Is that the best excuse you could come up with? I mean maybe if you wrote the book... ;)

      September 25, 2013

    • Angela

Haha...that's kind of funny actually, as the book we'll be reading is: "Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs, and Wear Cows: An Introduction To Carnism" (Melanie Joy Ph.D.) and when I mentioned this to Rich, he said that if anyone had mentioned that title and asked who wrote it, he'd have thought it WAS me! :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
