Kent Falls SP Walk, Kent, CT

No location was chosen

Kent Falls is a dramatic cascade with water falling 200 feet in a series of steps to the Housatonic River. This area has been featured in many photos and paintings. The area was first given to the state by the White Memorial Foundation, and then other parcels were added.

This will be an easy walk of about 1.5 miles with a large uphill climb by the falls. Then we will return by some trails I haven’t tried before. Social walking pace. We will be out for 2 hours. Afterwards we will have a picnic lunch at the base of the falls. Rain cancels. Rain before the walk will make the falls more spectacular. Dogs and children are welcome as long as they are calm and well behaved.

Location: 450 Kent Cornwall Rd, Kent, CT.

I have come down with a cold. I am feeling mostly OK, and I should be able to lead this walk. I will be there if I can.
If I am worse in the morning, I will have to stay home. Please organize yourselves and have a nice walk, if I'm not there.

To Jon and anyone else: I'd be interested in carpooling from Manchester. Want to meet at the commuter lot on Spencer Street at 9 AM? If interested, please reply.

I'm planning on going and would like to carpool. I'm in Hartford near the W. Hartford line. Best to call me at 231-1915 if interested. There's a chance that I may not be able to go.

Note on carpooling - I have room for 3 (barely), and more requests than seats available. Think VW Golf. Going in order, I can accept Joan D, Colleen and Mary assuming no guests, no pets, and not a great deal of gear. Let me know if this is acceptable, and we'll work out where to meet.... Good luck to the rest....

Thank you all for coming. It was a wonderful day. The weather was better than I hoped. The recient rain produced torrents of water over the falls. We survived the muddy trails and saw lots of rock cairns. Now if someone could explain the cairns to me, I would be interested.
