After Work Walk at Wildwoods Trail in Bloomfield

A group of residents at the Seabury Retirement community have built a set of trails on public land behind Seabury at Reservoir #2 and have dubbed them the Wildwoods Trails.

The trails here are wide and flat, perfect for socializing as we walk. We will do a loop of about 2 miles and take about an hour to take in the sights and enjoy the company as we walk.

These trails are wet, so boots are recommended, despite the ease of the walk.

The Wintonbury Flying Club - remote control model planes - uses this property also, so if it's a nice day, we may see some planes out there.

Leashed dogs and children are welcome.

Seabury Retirement Community is off from Wintonbury Avenue in Bloomfield. If you are using a GPS, use 100 Seabury Drive as your address. Then Seabury Drive makes a loop around the entire community and at the back of the loop, away from Wintonbury Avenue, there is a sign for Public Parking for Reservoir #2 Recreation Area. The parking area is not large, so if the hike draws a large crowd, some of us may have to park a bit further away in one of Seabury's visitor lots.

Forecast currently looks good, but with a chance of rain, so check back that morning to see if I've changed any plans due to a change in the weather forecast.

If anyone is interested in getting a bite to eat after, we can plan it as we walk!

Note about dogs: While this is a dog-friendly hike, the dog owners need to be responsible. Park rules require leashes and this location is not conducive to letting the dogs off the leash.  Please be prepared and clean up after your dog when needed.

I must visit a friend in the hospital tonight and want to get there during your walk in the park. I do look forward to another trail walk, be it here or there. Thanks Gloria, A

Forecast for this evening is cloudy and humid but the rain should hold off. Look forward to seeing people there for this walk.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
