It's Connecticut Open House weekend (www.ctvisit.com) so let's try an pretty urban walk and get a tour of the Governor's Residence in the process!
Meet at 10:00 at Elizabeth Park, corner of Prospect and Asylum Streets on the Hartford / West Hartford line. We'll meet in the parking lot between the greenhouses and the Pond House restaurant. (We may not all be able to park there, but we'll meet there near the greenhouses.)
We'll have a walk through the Herb Garden, Perennial Garden, the Rose Garden, and perhaps some other gardens. Sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes will be appropriate, boots not required.
This will be more of a stroll than a hike, so we can stop and smell the roses! :-)
Then we will head, on foot, a short distance down Prospect to the Governor's Residence for the Open House there.
For those who are interested, we could have lunch in the park at the Pond House Café after, http://www.pondhousecafe.com/
Children are welcome on this walk. Leashed dogs are allowed at the park, but not at the Governor's Residence.
