Another short after work walk - A 2-3 mile loop, part of which runs right along the river. We'll be out about 1 - 1.5 hours. This hike will be at a social (slow) pace - appropriate for beginners, kids, and those who like to mosey along taking in the sights and socializing with fellow hikers. The hike has a minimal amount of up and down - we'll do that first and save the walk along the river for the return trip. Boots or other sturdy shoes recommended for some spots are muddy and there are a lot of toe-stubbing hazards in the trail.
Kids and leashed dogs welcome. I'll have one or both of my dogs with me.
Meet at the dead end of Melrose Road in East Windsor. Meeting time is 6:00, hike departs no later than 6:10
Directions from I-91:
Exit 45, head east on Route 140
Follow 140 as it joins with Route 191
At a traffic light where 140 goes right and 191 goes straight, turn left on Melrose Road and follow it to the end.
GPS'ers can use 101 Melrose Road, East Windsor as an address and just follow the road to the dead-end.
Check back that morning to see if I have updated the plans based on weather or other factors.
Note about dogs: While this is a dog-friendly hike, the dog owners need to be responsible. Park rules require leashes. If you choose to break that rule and let your dog off the leash, please be sure it is okay with the other hikers (some of whom may not be dog people) and be sure you can control your dog when off leash. Finally, please be prepared and clean up after your dog when needed.
