I am delighted and honored to announce that Havurah Simchat Ha Lev will sponsor an intimate house concert with singer/songwriter Neshama Carlebach on Wednesday, February 24, 2010. She will be accompanied by her long-time collaborator keyboardist, David Morgan. Tickets for this event are $18, payable at the door. We are also offering the opportunity to have dinner with Neshama at our home for “angel” sponsors for this event at $50. Please reserve your spot on the MeetUp site quickly, as we know this concert will fill up quickly. If you want to be one of our “angels”, please phone Jackie directly at [masked] to reserve your dinner reservation.

Neshama, one of the leading superstars in Jewish entertainment, is continuing the legacy established by her father Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. His deep spirituality and his love of all humanity filled every song he wrote and touched every person he encountered as he changed the face of Jewish music. Like her father, Neshama’s talent and charisma captivate and endear her to people of all ages and backgrounds as she performs in cities all of the world. She continues to sing her father’s incomparable melodies and inspiring original compositions. An event with Neshama will uplift you and bring you the gift of songs that are danceable, singable and unforgettable.

In her own words:
“From the moment I was old enough to know I was alive, I knew I wanted to perform. I trained as a singer and actor from when I was five years old and began singing with my father and began singing with my father, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, of blessed memory, when I was fifteen. I began my singing career three weeks after I lost my father, my best friend. At first I felt compelled to sing, knowing in my heart he would have wanted me to. The beginning was a time of great sorrow, as I traveled around the world singing for thousands of people, all of us unable to accept the fact that we would never again be in his holy presence.

My father always said that when we sing, it’s like we’re praying twice. When I am on stage I experience prayer in the deepest sense. In this crazy world, sadly enough, people often are too afraid to feel. We too are terrified to open our souls to our deepest prayers, yet so broken at all we are missing inside. Somehow, when we don’t have the words to express all that we need, music says it for us. Music can somehow break our hearts and allow us to feel so whole all at the same time.” To learn more about Neshama, go to her website: www.neshamacarlebach.com.
