Heads Up London - Google Glass Demo + Guest Speakers

Join us for our inaugural event we have a live demo and presentation on Google Glass. The much anticipated heads up display is yet to hit our shores officially, so come down to get the inside track on the latest developments in the world of Glass. The Demo will help to answer your burning questions about this disruptive and highly debated technology: "Is it a Fad or Revolution?" "What's hot in the world of Google Glass Apps?" "How do i develop for Glass?"

Guest speakers: to be confirmed, we'll be announcing them shortly.

At the end of the night we will ask you all to help shape the agenda for our next events, who you'd like to see present next and which wearable tech you'd like to see Demos of, so come with some thoughts in mind.

We are meeting in the (absolutely gorgeous) Rainmaking Loft, which if you haven't been to, is the hottest new Startup Hub in London, situated in the shadow of London Bridge and the lovely St Katherine Docks. Thanks to the sponsorship of Oli & Stuart The Mayor of Rainmaking we have the space for Free!

Join us for a heady mix of wearable technology demos and guest speakers, spaces are limited to (50) - now 130 heads for the first event so RSVP asap!

Is the event open to the public, or is it just for hackathon participants? Would love to come by and check it out if possible.

How about using Leap as the number pad sensor? While the Glass showing the number pad, leap used as the sensor instead of the touch pad. Then you can poke in the air seeing what number you dailed from the Glass and make a phone call or do other stuff without touching either your phone or Glass or voice command :)

i think these scenarios are more suited to https://www.thalmic.co... Myo band, which is wearable

Thanks for the info on thalmic Myo, much better suited than the Leap, going to pre order it. Do you know if it will be compatible with Glass at launch?

I highly recommend that people should jump at the chance to engage youth with new technology and the opportunities for them to create the future

All 3 talks gave a great insight, they got me thinking.. would glass work with leap motion sensor? would love to hear the group's thoughts on this.. especially from the developers who know if this is technically possible.

    November 20, 2013

    • Jay

It would be awesome to get the Leap working with existing Glass features like Steve Mann's 'Twiddler' that Dave mentioned in his talk, if this works then can see some interesting future concepts in gaming and interacting with Augmented Reality 3D models. See the existing Leap very much as a stopgap while we wait for smaller battery powered Bluetooth 4.0 LE versions of Leap or something similar.

We are having a Glass and wearables hackathon on Nov 30th at Campus London and will be trying to connect Leap to Glass. Would encourage anyone interested to come and play. https://www.eventbrite...

I'm interested in this area too, but considering the size of the Leap unit and the USB interface, power needs, etc. is it practical?

It was a wonderful meet up. Great to talk to some of you and know about latest technology development. I've just posted a blog about this event and my thoughts about AR Advertising (I know it's not strictly related to Google Glass, but it is of many developers concern, and my own). For the record, I am not IT professional, so if I use any term wrong (which I barely use any), you are welcome to point out. And please please leave some comment if you think my blog is interesting. Thank you! The link: http://worldwidetalker.wordpress.com/2013/11/20/google-glass-strictly-not-ar-yet/

Great event. Methodically and concisely took us through the use cases, pluses and minuses of Glass, ease of developing and warnings about developing for Glass, and some great example demos.
    Congratulations. Slides available?

I think this whole wearable sector will blossom nicely now and Smart Glasses are a key area of enablement IMHO. My interest is the emerging areas for innovation and potential for investment.
Vuzix is a pure play candidate, as are some of the AR platform companies like Metaio. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
