Thought I'd start a thread for general book ideas.

I heard this interview on NPR the other day and NEED to read it:

I listened to Diane Rehm interview Andrés Neuman earlier this summer and now I would really like to read his book "Traveler of the Century."

In my Goodreads newsletter today, one of the books highlighted was written by NPR exec Eric Nuzum. "Giving Up the Ghost: A Story About Friendship, 80s Rock, a Lost Scrap of Paper, and What It Means to Be Haunted" Sound intrigueing!

With David Rakoff's death today, two I'd definitely add to the reading list: Half Empty and Don't Get Too Comfortable.

I also want to throw out there Monkey Mind: A Memoir of Anxiety by Daniel Smith, which was the Science Friday summer read recently and sounded wonderful (and may pair well with Half Empty) and Don't Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life by Sandra Beasley. It has probably been a year since I heard about Sandra Beasley's book on NPR but I still haven't gotten her interview out of my head.

I'm listening to that segment right now myself (I tend to listen to the recording of Science Friday on Monday) and it definitely sounds intriguing. I'll also have to look into the Sandra Beasley one. As someone with odd allergies, I'm sure I'd appreciate it.

I'm new (I haven't even attended a meeting yet!) but still thought I'd throw this suggestion out there...

NW: A Novel by Zadie Smith

I heard the author on Diane Rehm last week and I was impressed by the excerpts she read from the novel.
