Kick off the New Year with a mindful fitness hike designed for beginners or anyone recovering from an injury. We will take a few minutes to start the hike with a few group intentions to help you welcome the new year with a positive mindfulness...so bring any questions or goals you want help with. A friend recommended this little getaway--lots of trees and streams that take you out of the city vibe in the Brentwood!
Our usual 1- hour fitness hike format = 15 min strength training + hike + 10-15 min yoga stretching. Please budget 1.5 hrs if you are making other plans to allow for the possibility that we might take longer than 1-hr depending on the hike. This is a hike suited for beginners to intermediate hikers.
Please wear good shoes that you're ok getting muddy if it's wet (there are streams), and the usual: 1) eat a good low-glycemic breakfast 2) bring sunscreen, water, trail mix, layers of clothes in case you get hot.
Parking directions from internet research--please give yourself extra time to park and walk up the road earlier than 10am so we won't miss you if there isn't nearby parking. The Sullivan Canyon hike starts at the end of Bayliss Road in Brentwood. From Sunset, turn north on Mandeville Canyon, right at Westridge Road, and then left on Bayliss Road. Park for free on Bayliss Road.
We ask for a $5-10 donation so we can make a group donation to a non-profit working towards healthier communities. This month, we're donating to LA's Best (see link under sponsors). Please be considerate and change your RSVP the day before if you cannot attend because we look forward to gathering our whole group together. If you are not sure you will make it, we welcome last minute joiners, but please do not hold up a spot on the RSVP list. Many of us love dogs (please see group description), but please no dogs on these fitness hikes.
